Once my hip is fixed, I’m going to be back out in the timber! The only 2 things I miss more than competing in meets is deer hunting and ice fishing!

Well I don’t gun hunt much anymore, so I like the idea of still using the scope, and the one shot one kill option of the crossbow because it’s way to much effort to recock it in the tree stand and get a second shot off.

And I can consistently hit a vital area at 65 yards out with that bow.

Well a little 3 pointer came out early about a hour ago, I stuck him about 30 yds away, felt good about the shot, waited about 30 mins and he ran far, farther then I expected but here is most of my trail so I stopped and took pics…

Well joe n wood walker, it’s not nice, and I had no dinner to bring home, I looked n looked I even got to the point of havin to trespass, which compared to other things I’ve done in my life isn’t to bad, however I know the people love animals and don’t like hunters so it even if I walked up and asked them I would have got a earful. I was furious, I hate these situation, how the fuck can I qualify with a m16 at 500 yards, and not make a good shot at 30ish yards.

I hate when a wounded deer is smart enough to head for private property! I lost a couple like that on shotgun hunts years ago, it’s a sickening feeling knowing you’ve mortally wounded something and lost it! I feel for you brother!

I probably sound like a ass, but that is not what’s bothering me, I like to think im a decent shot, plenty of military training and shooting my whole life, so how am I missing a 30 yard shot with a scope, can’t wrap my head around it. And for what it’s worth, I use to have those feeling prior to joining the service, but now I reserve sympathy/empathy and all that shit for my family, and my immediate family.

You’re not an ass, I never served, but my dad did, that man has zero empathy or emotion. I could only imagine how those things change you. As far as the miss, there’s a lot of things to play into the shot, wind, dew point, grade of terrain, etc. I’ve missed some shots I never should have, and I’ve hit some kills when I never should have taken the shot.

This was a 30yd, little bit of wind 2mph comin out the north, and i was shooting into the wind, no crosswind either, he was broadside,it wasn’t cold or hot, about 58 degrees,I was in a stable position, with the bow leaning on my shooting rail.

Its adrenaline in the animal right?
They get shot even in a vital organ that adrenaline I believe gives them one hell of s get up and get going.
I was in a car once that hit a deer so hard it didn’t hit the windshield it just went flying about 20ft and I was sure that it was dead as dead gets that deer jumped up so damn fast its legs were running before he was standing back up I was amazed. 🤯🤯

Yes it is amazing the will to live, but this was on me operator error, most of them drop within sight.

Yes I moved a little or jerked the trigger. I’m goin back out again Saturday after shoot it/sight it in again.
