Unprecedent DOMS After New Exercise

So did a reasonably hard legs workout on Saturday, then did a “fluff and buff” chest workout yesterday, as part of which I performed a new exercise. As an alternative to squeezing octagonal DBs together and pressing them for chest work, I used a “V” grip on the Smith and laid down parallel to the bar, pressing upward with my back resting on a bench. Gave me a great chest pump and though it was hard because it was not an exercise I’m used to doing, it didn’t seem to have wrecked me. I was fine last night.
This morning, however, I am absolutely wrecked in a way I have not been in years: My chest, back neck, butt and legs are ridiculously tight and inflexible and the DOMs is ridiculous. I virtually never have any material DOMs any more, but today I sure as Hell do.

So: Does this happen to you guys periodically or with a new exercise? I suppose this may be the one day I am forced to use an NSAID just to be able to get through the day. Definitely going to be a rest day. Just didn’t see this coming.

They are effectively the same, Aleve you can take a little bit higher dose without GI upset. I’d go with that.

I wish they’d make toradol over the counter. It’s an nsaid and we give it to our open heart patients and we can pretty easily get them off narcotics day 1-2 with that and iv Tylenol infusions.

Hahaha. I love you man…

I have buckets of the motrin 800 prescribed. I take maybe one a month or so. One of those in case of emergency break glass things.

Also have arthritis strength tylenol… take them the same as above.

I don’t remember the last time I took anything. Maybe last winter.

Right back atcha, @Poppy !

Took 800mg of Aleve. Haven’t done that in quite a while. Amazing shit, I must say. Within 15 minutes, I feel substantially looser and less sore. Would have just suffered through it, but I gotta function today. Time to make the doughnuts!

I don’t think they would. You can always ask! It can be harsh on the kidneys. I think that’s why they don’t let it over the counter
