Which lifting belt do you use?

Hey guys and gals so I’m in the market for a new lifting belt, perferably a 4" leather belt. Just wanted to hear what belts everyone is using and why you like them or dislike them? Right now I’m on the fence between the Gymreapers belt or a Gasp belt. Thanks for any input fam.

I ve used inzers with a buckle… no lever belts they aren’t as forgiving or easily adjustable… and pioneer (general leather craft is the business name) again I use the buckle… i like how pioneer has engineered the belt holes at 1/2 in instead of the standard 1in … I have no idea who gymreaper is and my guess is and never considered a gasp belt …

Great question. Mainly because I’m interested for myself. I have never really used a weight belt, I don’t wear gloves and I do my best not to use straps for deads or similar. But I’m finding a need for weight belt these days.

Only real accessories I wear are wrist wraps and a belt for certain workouts. I have a nylon belt now but it’s falling apart on me so I thought I would go with a leather one this time.

I love my pioneer belt but it’s custom … I m waiting for their big sale at the end of the year to get another one. a former friend bought this one for me and while no else really knows what it represents I do and I dont want to wear it anymore … I usually get suede also but I m fancy like that 😉

I like and have a Rogue Ohio belt. I only wear it for squats and deadlifts. I love it. I have MAVA knee sleeves. They are awesome. I use cobra grips on heavy days for max weight max rep pulldowns. Or for shrugs. My grip weakens befor I fatigue my traps…,

What exactly do belts help with. I’ve wore them but not noticed a difference. Is it just back support? I did have lower back pain after squats… would this help with that?

no lower back pain is a product of poor form… check your position …
belts are used as cues to stablilze and brace your core. See I said CUE not back support … a CUE for YOU to breathe and brace properly. When I was a newb I used the belt a lot to brace against as I was learning how to breathe properly Lots of people actually tighten them too much and it doesn’t allow you to activate your core.

I ve gottten to the point where I deadlift without it but I still use it albeit not even tight… lol. I pulled 405 at a crossfit meet using one of their crossfit bars barefoot with my belt half on this past weekend

At the price of the belt I had to make a choice. The wife’s birthday is coming up and she would love one of these Pioneer belts fully customized so mine will have to wait. Looks like I’ll be digging out the old Dicks Sporting Goods special for the time being.
