Building a tolerance to Cialis?

I have been using Cialis 20 mg EOD for about 24 weeks now as part of my PWO. What I’m wondering is should I stop for awhile so my body doesn’t become dependent on it? My concern is my body is going to start relying on it for erections and that’s not what I take it for. I have read a few members have had issues but they were on higher doses daily. What are your thoughts?

Good question. I take 10mg ed. I hope someone knows…although I’m not worried, I figure I’ll be on it some sort of way until I croak.

Seeing that im looking at taking this everyday forever moving forward worries me if you can build a tolerance to cialis its never crossed my mind because its not a narcotic so I never even thought about this happening if it works off of using a receptor binding then the chance is definitely there I would need to take a closer look at how cialis actually works.
If no one knows I will check the science and see if its possible.

When I tried looking into it earlier, I found nothing. Im guessing there’s very little data on dependency because you wouldn’t be taken it if you didn’t already have ED.

Did you look into how it actually works from compound to changes in the body? I know that it un restricts the blood vessels and allows for the extra blood flow but I need to know how it makes this happen.

I just read the history and basic biological mechanics of cialis and viagra. Very interesting.

Vasodilation and relaxing blood vessels basically… in a nut shell

How it works

Tadalafil blocks the action of an enzyme known as cGMP-specific phosphodiesterase type-5 (PDE-5). This enzyme breaks down cGMP, a substance that induces smooth muscles to relax. Blocking PDE-5 means increased levels of cGMP within the smooth muscles which promotes muscle relaxation and vasodilation (a widening of blood vessels).
High levels of PDE-5 are found in the penis, lungs, and retina. PDE-5 is also found throughout the body within the smooth muscle cells of blood vessels and muscles.
Cialis (tadalafil) belongs to the class of medicines known as PDE-5 inhibitors.

It has to continue to block the PDE-5 with cGMP so if it takes more cGMP to block PDE-5 over time then yes but it doesn’t require a receptor binding so I don’t believe that its strength will diminish over time it might take a higher dosage to achieve effects as you get older possibly from gaining PDE-5 in the body if this happens?

We had a similar conversation early fall late summerish. From what I remember is that us younger fellas need to worry about our ducks becoming dependent on it for getting an erection.

The consensus was take it eod not Ed. And breaks here and there. I believe @NeuroRN was part of the conversation and possibly an old sponsor. Do
You remember this @NeuroRN ?

I don’t have concrete evidence of building a tolerance over time. Most anecdotal. It depends on your reason for taking cialis. Everyday at 2.5-5mg for heart health and it will stay doing the trick.

Everyday for getting the wood out? I actually don’t think you need to. I believe it has a 30+ hour half life. EOD would suffice.

Just personal experience with most any medication- your body is incredible. It adapts to almost anything. Honestly. So it’s a good idea to treat any non essential med like you will build a tolerance to it and use judiciously.

As far as needing more to get it up? Start as low as possible with the dosing. Always. Start at 10mg. Cialis goes all the way up to 80mg I believe.
