Sweetness siggy. I was hitting PRs before I had that recent back issue. I was planning on 295 for my final set the following week of my injury did 285 week before. Was damn excited to hit the 300 club but now am set back. Being old sucks. Now I will do it vicariously through you Hahahaha. Your on your way brother keep it up!!!
And 600! Haha! @Cluster great job man! PR’a are the best part of lifting, don’t ever think a number is too small, especially if it’s a PR! Everyone started somewhere, my first meet 20+ years ago I didn’t even squat 300. Kill it, set your next bench mark and go after it!
@Dirtnasty, I beleive you will. Just remember, once you eclipse 600 lbs, it all feels the same, really fucking heavy! Haha. I hit 112 kilo (250 lbs) box squats today, to a 20” box. I’m happy with that, eventually I’ll drop it to an 18” box.
Wish they had boxes at gym. I’m thinking of setting the safety bars to do a pin squat or something just to get some variations. As I will be hitting legs more the next coming weeks
Also yeah 585 was the most I ever got when playing ball they used gave the sensors you put on legs to let you know when you hit depth I hated those things
That’s some weight brother hell yes. I’ve been Focusing on getting ass to grass on squats lately so I’ve dropped the weight on my last set from around 275 for 10 to maybe 245 for 6/8… I was going past parallel but my form wasn’t as perfect as I would like and I wasn’t getting the amount of quad activation I wanted. All glutes. I want strangers too see me squat in the gym and think “Jesus that mf going Low!” Working on ankle mobility and squatting barefoot has helped a lot
What was the depth? Basically a “third world squat”? … if your not familiar with the term you know how people in third world country’s can essentially just sit down on there haunches… I’ve always wanted to do that, would be so helpful at work
@Dirtnasty you can also use chains for a pin squat variation. Hang the chains from the top of your rack or mono and set them as low as you want to go. I used to love doing all that stuff, overloads with reverse bands, speed work with 200 lbs of chain, speed work with bands… I miss it all, someday I’ll be back there, just not like when I competed.
The guys on Westside vs the world have their legs really far apart when they squat. Does that help. Is it the proper form. I am usually about shoulder width maybe slightly more.
@Rusty they’re lifting in squat suits, multi ply equipment holds your hips open like that and forces your stance pretty wide. I wore an Inzer Leviathan when I competed equipped, both to squat and deadlift… it sucked ass, took longer to get on than to lift
