Hey guys I’m looking at buying a home gym. I want to start working out with my son and turn my garage into a home gym. I’ll still be using my local gym several days a week for the majority of my workouts so I don’t need anything crazy. I’m gonna have a budget between $700-$1000. I’ve looked on Amazon and a little on Google and have a couple that are pretty nice in that price range. If anybody has any suggestions or any sites they recommend I’d appreciate it.

Use Walmart they actually have great prices on equipment.
I got the golds gym xrs 20 with the squat rack and its been a great piece of equipment very versatile.

Don’t be cheap on quality. Even for home gym. Look for used commercial grade equipment. Stick with basics at home. Squat or smith machine. Adjustable Incline bench. Decline bench.

I bought some lower grade commercial stuff for home including a calve machine. 50mm Olympic bars and weights. But its still nothing like the gym. Its good for convenience and maybe doing 2 a day workouts.

I’m definitely looking at used commercial gear, I think that’s the best bang for your buck. I’m looking at marcy home gym with the smith machine too. I’m wondering about the quality though. I’m not planning on going crazy with the weights, it’s more to teach my son on and get him started, but I’d like good quality either way.

My part of the country isn’t turning up much on craigslist or Facebook, I don’t wanna drive 3 hrs to pickup equipment either.

That’s cool I didn’t know that they had an auction website for surplus.
You can probably just find about anything on those sites I imagine.

We have a couple places that sell used equipment. It’s called second wind. A lot of gyms that upgrade or close down sell the equipment there. Everything from dumbells to cable machines and everything else . Good stuff and fairly cheap. If your close to a city I am sure you will have something similar…

I owned a gym for years and you can’t be quality. For home use the Tuff stuff smith machine with lat pull, pec dec, and seated row is incredible. Not only do you have the smith portion, you can also use an Olympic BB.
