You’re most likely looking one of two things- “dawn phenomenon” or the “somogyi effect”

Wake up at 2-3 am for a few nights and check your sugar:

If it’s low during this time it’s most likely somogyi and you’re taking too much or too little insulin at night, possibly skipping your night time snack. Then you sugar drops while sleeping and then body releases stores while sleeping to bring it up. You and your doc will have to come up with a new plan.

If it’s not low it’s the dawn phenomenon and this happens with most every diabetic. your body doesn’t release more insulin to match the early-morning rise in blood sugar. Iusually happens between 3 a.m. and 8am.
  • don’t eat carbs before bed.
-take your insulin closer to going to sleep.
Either way, the only way to know is to wake up around 2-3 and check your sugar for several days.

Hell no im not diabetic I get those weird numbers every once in a while I have had all the glucose tests they and everything g comes back normal I’m wondering if the HGH is making me insulin resistant
I monitor my blood sugar anyway I think it’s something we should all do I may check it pre and post meals this week and get up at night and check it to see what’s up

Well damn. Game changer. Hahaha you caught me post shift in full nurse mode. The GH will definitely increase your insulin resistance. I’m not super familiar with the GH release patterns at night… but we do know it increases insulin resistance so maybe drop your dose down a few days, try dosing at a different time and see what effect it has on your sugar.

You just opened up a million questions in my head This leads me to a question if your insulin resistant does that impede your ability to gain muscle and loose fat insulin is what puts glucose into the cells correct? So if your resistant wouldn’t you be having a hard tome doing so

Hahaha I’m sorry. I’m gonna say pause your brain. Refer to others who have far greater knowledge in the realm of GH. You got diabetes? I’m your guy. I’ll gladly take the back seat to anyone who can answer these questions Better than myself.

those are good points but i do not know all those answers, maybe we have a coach or something here that can get us there

I’ve noticed a difference with my insulin based off the carbs I take in that day. Rice seems to spike my insulin more than pasta. If I eat rice one day and pasta the next. The day I eat pasta I crave sweets like no other. How much have you changed your diet since you started your log @Outlawthing?

I was eating maintenance with only three meals during day and two shakes now I’m at five with two shakes can’t really say that the macros split changed but the amount of calories did the amount per meal didn’t really either I’m pretty consistent with that part

Definitely high for fasting glucose. I’m not familiar with the long term effects of GH and insulin (I know I have the papers and degrees, but I can assure you our current nursing healthcare education system gives no consideration to your hormonal health) if this continues, or has been a trend over a month. I would personally recommend getting your hemoglobin A1C tested. It will give you an average glucose over the last 3 months. Will at least give you some sort of reference.

I had that done somewhere and it was normal I’m almost 100% positive it is the hgh and the reason bein is my sugar is almost always low in morn it ran 60-70 before hgh which I think was the reason I hated working out in morn now it’s a lot easier however that is high for fasted which leads me to the insulin resistance from it. I have never had sugar issues before glad I posted this so people can see the change I posted some bloods I had last week on my log So now I am in question if your insulin resistant and have higher blood sugar how do you burn fat with it ?

I believe it has something to do with IGF receptor binding being competitive with insulin. But like I said GH is not in my wheelhouse. My body doesn’t like elevated GH levels or exogenous GH so I quit learning about it.

IM DEFINITELY intrigued to know if any other members have elevated glucose on GH. I doubt anyone tests it as consistently as you though.

BP AND BLOOD SUGAR are must checks and Easy / cheap to see what your body is doing I learned that along time ago. Go eat a big nasty cheat meal from fast food and check blood sugar 😳

oh… it’s horrible.

Good for you. I think preventative behaviors like this are essential to long term wellness. Most people don’t know either, BP/BS, until they have problems with it.

If both are 106, this becomes more intriguing. You are not having major glucose spikes, so your body responds to insulin well. It’s just running at a higher level consistently… which is not good for long term health but leads me to believe it may be directly exogenous GH related.
