My Post-Blast Picture

You ever thought of ditching the regular bar for squats?

I switched to a yoke bar and used a buffalo bar at a friend’s. My shoulders just couldn’t take it anymore. I use a regular bar maybe twice a year just cuz.

My only issue is that I do like to alternate with Smith Squats, as they permit more forward foot placement and concentration on glutes. But I’m going to try the yoke bar next time I’m at the big boy gym.

Yeah man… regular bar is harsh on shoulders. Not being a smarty pants but guys our age that aren’t competing really have no reason to squat with a regular bar if it hurts.

My all time fave and IMHO the best American movie ever made. “I have nothing but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life. You have no idea what I’m talking about. But don’t worry: you will.”

Gives me shivers just to type it!

Ok. Bloods back today.

Better AST/ALT, but still elevated: AST dropped 20% to 85; ALT dropped 16% to 150.

E2 dropped from 99 to 45 (no wonder I’m taking a million years to “finish”).

HDL jumped 20 points. Total cholosterol dropped to 128.

Hematocrat at 43.2%.

A1C at 4.6%.

Was simultaneously diagnosed with both a tooth infection due to a botched root canal and a continuing sinus infection due to a deviated septum (guess I shouldn’t have used my nose to stop as many fists as I did as a kid), causing my white blood cell count to be 14.1 thousand!

Kidney function (eGFR) dipped to 59, which is below the reference range of 60. Doc says I am dehydrated and need to ensure I drink at least a gallon of water each day.

Doc says hormone injections have nothing to do with my elevated AST/ALT and wants to re-test shortly after having the tooth fixed next week. She is convinced the infections (plural) are what is keeping the AST/ALT levels elevated.

With that, I’m continuing my blast, at least until the next round of bloods are drawn in a couple of weeks.

Thanks! I was happy with everything except the white blood cell count and the infections, and I wished the AST/ALT had dropped further. Given that I began my current blast between the last labs and the current labs, I think the doc is right that the injections have nothing to do with the AST/ALT values.

Root canal getting re-drilled next Tuesday. ENT thinks that may be causing the sinus infection, along with the deviated septum. Only way to fix the latter is a nose job, which I probably could use anyway! HA!

That sucks. I dread every visit to the dentist. Just hearing the drill down the hall gives me the heebie-jeebies
