Bicep injury

Ok. No question I suffered a distal bicep tendon tear today. There really isn’t any pain. No bruising. Heard and felt the popping and when I flex it, there’s no question that’s what it is. Looking for any and all info anyone might have. Obviously my biggest concern is will it ever look normal again. Can I train around it? Man… just any info.

Ouch. I had the same thing several years ago falling through some roof rafters. Grabbed with right hand and it popped loud.

I had severe bruising from armpit to my wrist. I opted out of surgery because of the long recovery and I was in the middle of a major renovation at my house.

I hung and finished 40 sheets of drywall by myself a week later. I didn’t do any training for a while…maybe a month. Then I worked into it easy.

It took maybe 6 months to get back to full training. It is definitely deformed. I’ll look for some pics.

Here’s some pics from a while back. As you can see non watch hand… bicep is bunched up at shoulder.

Pretty similar. I’m hoping to be able to train other body parts while it heals. Obviously I’ll still be able to do legs. Chest should be ok. Back raises some concerns. It doesn’t look terrible. My wife didn’t even notice till I pointed out the differences.
You worked through it? With your renovation and day to to day life. I’m a merchandiser for for coke so my job is also physical. Man, what a set back. But your timetable gives hope. Thank you.
Happened on the negative portion of a dumbbell preacher curl. I couldn’t stop it once it started.

Yours might not have been a full blown tear/rupture. It would have real bad purplish yellow nasty bruising. There would be no bicep when you stretch your arm out with your palm up.

Just be careful and you’ll be just fine.

On the front double bicep pic, is that recent? I know it just happened but mine hangs more to the front. Is that how yours started out?

I was late 50’s when I did mine…61 in a couple of weeks…i can do pullups and close grip 285 pounds for reps.

@Neuro is right.

I went straight to ER (Sunday)… Monday I was at the ortho.

A good surgeon will render way better advice then I will.

I didn’t mean to make it sound so routine. I was mri’d…xray’d…poked and prodded by a PA and surgeon whom I trust before making my decision to opt out of surgery.

To be honest…in retrospect, I’m not 100% certain I would make the same call.

At the time the renovation was dried in…roof and siding installed so everything was good damage wise. I could have pushed everything back 3 or 4 months and had the surgery.

Hindsight is a motha…

Here it is…several days afterwards. The bruise went down to my wrist. The other is a couple of months afterwards.

Surprisingly not. I’ve had injuries way worse. It hurt but it was tolerable.

I’ll tell you when it hurt… my dumbazz got back from the er and went back to work. I was swinging a staple hammer….with my injured arm. It didn’t hurt at that time because of the trauma BUT the next day was bad…very bad decision on my part.

I did go to care now. He said he thinks it’s a soft tissue injury. He was able to partially hook the tendon the inflammation was making it difficult but it’s there. Still no bruising. But Bro I’m telling you it felt and sounded like a chain coming off in there. Thanks for the response.
