Bodyfat maintenence for the long run

I’ve always been a large individual. I’ve been lifting since I was 13 and since the age of 20 I’ve always trained religiously only taking off a scheduled 2 weeks a year. I’m 37 now. I’ve always fought with my weight. I’ve lost 140 lbs, 127 and 112 on different cuts and 80+ on 4 different occasions.

I’ve always managed to get lean no matter how far out of hand I’ve gotten. My problem is maintaining the fat loss. I rebound like a boomerang and manage to end up heavier. You don’t see many healthy 50+ year old 300 pounders walking around. I need to start getting some of the strain off my weight off of my joints and organs.

I just wanted to know who’s been in a similar situation and what strategies have you used to maintain. I’m not a competitive bodybuilder but I want to be able to maintain that look year round as opposed to every other year lol. I know this is long winded but thank you for reading.

My wife and I both use the RP diet app. Monthly subscription, helps you track macros, time meals based on workouts, and in your case… they have a maintenance plan. I’m a huge fan of the RP programs. I’ve seen great success with them.

I’d never heard of it, just downloaded the app. I’d considered getting someone to plan a diet, I believe mine are too aggressive which leads to some of the rebound. I’m definitely going to try this out. Thanks man I appreciate it.

Im curious brother with all the back and forth weight gain and weight loss. What’s the actual reason that after you drop all that weight you go right back up and maybe more has your doctor ever commented about your weight fluctuations?
Do you personally know the reason is it just something that you fall back into bad habits?
Ive had to lose 80lbs before one day I woke up and I gained alot of weight from eating fast food every day at work. It took me about a year to drop that weight but I knew it was soda and fast food that were making it happen?

Im just curious to see if I can help brother

Mental health is huge @Youts. I discovered hormone imbalances cause me to feel like the little issues are like the end of the world and I can’t sleep at night just thinking about them. I use to find myself looking at the bottom of a bottle of Jim Beam or Kelser just to fall asleep. And ya big fatty time. Once my TRT doc got things in balance my big problems seemed small and my mental health was in check. No more self medicating.

I have the same opinion as youts, I eat when I’m stressed. When I’m locked in I usually can work my way through it and I’m disciplined for months. But eventually I fall back into that pattern. Additionally I think after an aggressive marathon diet I’m spent by the end and my and hormonal wise I’m a fat storing machine. I use an urgent care as a primary, so dealing with different docs they don’t notice.

Gotcha brother I believe a solid trt clinic would really help keep your levels stable and that will help with alot of different things the weight possibly it might even keep things leveled out so that alot of issues will be solved.
You know what you need to do though your advanced just stay in a deficit and training until you hit your goal weight.
I wish you the best brother

Usually when I have gained too much weight is because I love food and Can’t control myself hahaha gained 30-40 pounds a year and then I always loose them again .
Also, I have noticed that when this happens is because I don’t have any fitness goals to reach and my workouts are tedious at times… I wonder if that is some type of depression Hahahhaha

I’ve never really considered therapy. I always figured I could sort it on my own. But I’m open to whatever helps

Sounds like you know how to get the weight off so that’s the easy part staying committed once you reach your goal is the hard part life will always throw things at you work tired hurting bs. You just have to keep yourself In The routine trt may help if. Your hormones were fluctuating Try reading some books maybe body for life I’m sure there are others
And having someone to talk to when shit gets you down will help we are here if you need us cook your. Meals go train and don’t let negativity in
