Update- I am 2 days away from 1 month out. Had a check up with the Ortho and the PA today, x rays to check everything. All is healing nicely, the incision is all closed up, the stem has good placement in my femur and the doc said by now new bone should be growing into it to solidify it. I was cleared today to start lifting with my legs again, just cautioned to start slow, so I’ll probably start with mostly body weight and balance… As the approach they took into my hip was lateral/posterior, I will always have to be weary of letting my knee track across the mid line of my body, however I was told to do abductors and adductors to help strengthen all the muscles that hold my hip together now that ligaments are gone. My ROM has almost come back to what it was prior to 2015, I can lift my left leg higher than I’ve been able to in 5 years, I can reach my toes for the first time in 5 years, however my hamstrings are stupid tight, as well as my piriformis muscles I would imagine. So stretching and mobility will continue to be a large part of my workouts as well. I’d like to thank everyone here for the support, I’ll continue to keep updating this post as I hit new milestones, like deadlifting and squatting again… not sure I’ll ever make a return to full power, for fear of re injury, but maybe push pull isn’t out of the question!!!
