Food prepping, who does it and how do you do it?

So I’m starting this thread to compile information and ideas for members interested in food prep.

The main idea for this thread is for those of you guys that meal prep to post what a week of food prep looks like for you guys and what’s the protein carbs cals ECT. I know some of you do it and are very thorough. I will personally be using any and all information for my meal prepping that I’m going to start doing for myself because I’m not eating as much as I should.

Hopefully you guys get involved and I look forward to trying some of your ideas/ recipes.

My prep is simple, a family pack of chicken breast in a slow cooker, grill either steak or pork. Those are my main prepped proteins for meals during the day. Breakfast I don’t prep as it’s usually eggs and oats, quick and easy. Dinners are whatever the wife makes. I usually prep 3 midday meals

170g salad mix with 4oz cooked weight chicken, bolthouse low cal dressing

Cup of green beans with 4oz cooked pork/steak

200g russet potato, cup of green beans, 4oz cooked chicken

The slow cooker is my best friend for chicken. I hate leftover chicken and shredded is the only way I can stomach it

As of lately, my diet has been pretty simple, grilled chicken, potatoes, and veggies. Usually 1 breast of chicken, half a large potato, half can of veggies. Or half of those mash potato packs. Sometimes I will do half can of beans and 1/2 cup rice with a breast of chicken, or around 1/2lb of extra lean ground beef as a burrito bowl. 600-800 calorie meals roughly.

Sometimes I will do things in stages. One day I will cook up 6-10lb of chicken, portion to each container and refrigerate. Then later in the day or the next day I will make up my batches of rice, potatoes, veggies, etc.

I will also freeze 1/2lb beef packs in sandwich bags, or single chicken breasts, if I want to cook up a different meal.

I really like the burrito bowls brother I seen your post a week or so ago and it looked delicious. I got most of the stuff to make them today when I went to the store lol

Glad to hear it, if you are not worried about salt, you can try your hand at an enchilada sauce for the burrito bowls, chicken broth and tomatoes sauce is the general base, I’m sure you can search up a recipe.

Sounds good, can’t go wrong with some enchilada sauce. I’ll throw up the pics when I make it. I just need to get some containers.

Slow cooker or instapot. Usually 4 days of meals at a time. I like to make it easy.

Slow cooker grill flattop lots of Tupperware and alot of chicken lol

I have meal plans written down from years on cycle I keep it really simple and just usually est the same thing almost all meals.

I have a backpack cooler that holds meals plus water and I bring it everywhere with my prepped meals and water.

The looks that people give when you just pull out cold nasty food or even hard boiled eggs is priceless lol lol

My advice is don’t meal prep. It can take a lot of time. What I do instead is simple use simple foods that are easy to prepare. It doesn’t take me any longer than 5-10 minutes to cook and assemble a meal, 20 if the air fryer is involved.

I used to prep and I fell off the wagon because doing meal prep makes you dependent on your meals. In my case, if I didn’t have a meal prepped or missed my prep time on Sunday then it fucked me all up.

That said, if you are gonna do it, go big, freeze it and then pull them out when you need them. I also like using the slow cooker to cook food in bulk easily. Another neat tip is you can prep basic foods (ground beef, chicken, rice, baked potatoes) ahead of time and just keep them stacked in your fridge or freezer. Then when you’re ready to eat you just dole out these simple ingredients you’ve already prepped.

I’m a big grill guy so I’ll grill up 4lb of chickens at a time.
I use lites of ground Turkey and bison as well.
Carbs are rice or potatoes. As many green leafy vegetables as you want.

Basically
200g meat
200g carb
Veggies
6x per day slight variation do occur

This is exactly the issue I have been having, why I’ve taken the course of using very simple ingredients for my meals, even the burrito bowls are a bit much to cook, but grill chicken, potatoes and veggies only takes minutes to cook.

My wife mixes up a big bowl of cold overnight oatmeal. I get 9 breakfasts out of it.

I’m with @John on lunches. I get leftovers from dinner.

Almost every day… i eat cheese sticks cold oatmeal, bananas and egg whites.

Throw in a can of tuna here and there and add leftovers from supper and thats my meals.
