So I just wanted to ask if anyone else has lower back pain and what they have done to correct it. About 6 months ago I was squatting over 500lbs for reps and deadlifting over 600. Now I can’t even put 250lbs on my back without it being very painful around a 45 degree angle. This forum always gives me good insight and maybe someone’s input can help me. Thanks!

First question, have you seen a doctor? We cannot rule out anything structurally wrong with the back until you see doc… second, look into reverse hypers, even without weight they’re amazing at helping bring along weak points in the low back/glutes and hips

I started with a car accident at 16. Went to school, then practice, and then could hardly stand up for 3 weeks. A few blushing disks and absolutely wrecked musculature.

Granted, being a nurse standing, pulling, rolling and twisting unconscious mostly obese humans hasn’t helped, BUT if I had done the proper rehab/prehab and taken care of it then… I wouldn’t have been in PT for over a year straight in my 30’s.

The difficulty comes from the adaptations our bodies make to keep us safe. Throws of our normal alignment and push pull of anterior and posterior chain. Started with my back… ended up my hips, knees, t spine, chest all learned to compensate for that one lower back injury.

Go. Go. Go. To the doctor.

Agree with @NeuroRN I hate to say it but with such a significant drop in how much weight you can do you have to rule out serious injury. Meaning that you’d need to get imaging in order to get a real diagnosis.

Chiropractor here.

Pain going down the leg at all? Squatting is a relatively easy way to bulge or herniate a disc. It could be as simple as a muscle strain, or it could be a bulging/herniated disc. Typically with the latter youll have radiating leg pain but not always. Best way to get it diagnosed is an MRI. If it is bulged or herniated i recommend some type of conservative therapy before operating table or steroid shots… and you will always need to be very careful with lifts that axially load the spinal column.

Ok ill have to get in and get an mri.

I have been seeing a chiro and doing.different self rehab techniques but its.still there. No better. I hate going to the doc and always try to save ot for last resort because there are so many things you.can do to heal yourself but I haven’t been able to heal this one. For legs I just stick to belt squats along with anything that supports back and im.fine. as soon as I do
