Pro and con of self medicating TRT

Hi UG family , I am currently getting my TRT program from a TRT clinic , but the cost is way to much to maintain over a long period of time like years. Could I please get your feed back and experiences with self medicating vs doctor prescribed TRT programs, the good things and bad things with your experiences. Any feed back will be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God Bless

What kind of TRT are you on? Jell or injection? Do you have an option? Jell is Ridiculously pricey. Injections even letting you self inject is pretty cheap.

For safety/security I would always say go to a doc. HOWEVER, it is pricey, and can be a headache getting a doc to listen.

If you’re gonna do it yourself you have to stay disciplined with labs etc. there are several companies that allow you to check the labs needed.

I would encourage you read as much as you can on the subject. I wrote a post about “testosterone optimization therapy bible” recently. Either route you go, I would STRONGLY Encourage you to read this book.

@Kaleoboy great question and a valid concern.

I have a very different view from a doctors view point. As the term goes “educate before you medicate” is very big. But i understand western medicine is highly over priced and alot of rules and regualtions must be met to issue a RX.

So with that simply put if you are any form of law enforcement, medical professional or city employee i recommend carrying a prescription even if you dont fill it, just incase it ever comes up you are safe and under the supervision of a medical provider.

Now the other hand of you are going to self medicate I highly suggest quarterly blood work to ensure your body is running in a good fashion.

From there you would need to just watch out for tell signs of issues and donating blood and taking the best knowledge when doing such to be safe and effective in your journey.

Carrying the script is a really good idea. I hadn’t thought about the importance of at least having an actual script on hand should you run into any sort of issue. Would also make traveling a non issue.

@NeuroRN you are right and with my athletes you may also mix you compounds in one vial with your script and take it safetly sith no issues with the TSA or any customs.

For example: you are missing one shot and the dosage is 1cc test, 1cc mast and 1cc of tren ace. I would have a client drain their test cyp or ent RX and fill it with their 3cc shot they would mix and walk right through with no issues as the worst case due to HIPA is they go is this yours you nod and put it back in your bag.

I am on 200 mg Tests Cypionate injectable a week. I pin every 3 days.

That’s usually fairly cheap. I’d check out your family physician then. It’s cheap to buy.

It’s supposed to be cheap. My dad is self employed, and a single 10ml vial of cyp cost him triple digits.

I think the biggest pro is the financial aspect but also you can tweak your dose and fine tune it to achieve your desired effect. Honestly iv also seen people on here that have more knowledge then doctors with no actual experience. I’ve read posts of members doctors doing some stuff that’s concerning, from not prescribing any AI to prescribing them take 1mg armidex daily crashing their estrogen.

Do to being a government employee I have a TRT doctor and a prescription. That is cause my work does make us get bloodwork but I know they aren’t looking for gear. Mainly recreational drugs.

I also own half a gun shop here. And it just looks better to have a legit reason to have gear. I deal with Fedral government people everyday so I like to be covered Incase they start poking around.

My wife wants to buy a gun. Can you ship guns? I have plenty but she wants her own. She wants a pistol and a hunting rifle. I only know what a kick feels like to a 250 man that has shot guns since before I can remember. I don’t even recognize the kick from a 7mm mag. I do from a 300. Hahaha What do you recommend for a 160 pound lady? Something she can reach out a touch a deer from 250 without having to worry much about bAllistics. .270???

I’m on the other end of the spectrum but the almighty one has spoken. I have a script but never use it I self medicate at this point but I have been on TRT for over 10 years now so I know what to look for I wouldn’t say it’s really cheaper the gear is but you still pay for bloodwork so it’s kinda a wash I just don’t want a doctor to control it and the reason is it got very high once on TRT dose instead of coming down safely By adjusting dose they freaked out cancelled my script cut me off caused estrogen craze And made me suffer as I had no test so F/ that

At the TRT Clinic they charge me $3600 for a 18 month plan. The plan covers 200 mgs Test cyp per week
they ship me a bottle of 10 ml 200 mg Test Cyp/ 1mg Arimidex mix and syringes every two months( they will adjust that dose as need to maintain total Test levels to between 800 - 900 ) Doctors visits and blood work every 2 to 4 months for the 18 months.
