Training yesterday, week 6 day 2, was supposed to hit 80% on deficit dead’s (380) and an AMRAP @ 85% regular dead’s (385)… I worked up to 225 on deficits, tried 315 and my finger felt like it was going to pop, so we stayed with 225. Did 4x2 deficits, and a 10 rep AMRAP before my finger couldn’t take any more. Bench was a deload, 60% 6x6, 160 lbs. accessory was just biceps and triceps, no RDL’s this week.
Today will squat, tomorrow headed to San Diego

Squatted yesterday, 5x5 @ 190, and as an added bonus my wife and one of the girls at the gym she has accused me of fucking became best friends! After squats I hit 4x2 on front squats at 160… pretty sure my right knee knees more prehab, as it’s not quite as bad as it was 2 months ago feeling like it was going to rip right off the knee cap, but it still hurts pretty damn good when I’m squatting! Followed that up with close grips and cheering my wife’s new best friend on in her mission to pull 310 lbs, which was fucking awkward as fuck seeing as how 2 weeks ago my wife insisted I was fucking her… women are fucking crazy! Finished out the day with pull downs and shoulders.

Getting ready to get stitches from my finger removed, then this afternoon it’s off to San Diego! I’ll find a gym and do 2 fluff and buff workouts while I’m there, then next weekend it’s back to serious, whether my finger likes it or not!

Little guy is back in Iowa with our oldest daughter. This is the middle daughter, she just graduated from college. Someday will bring little man out here for Disney and Universal!

I think I’m checking out Metroflex either today or tomorrow… should be nice!

One day left… I have fallen completely off. No Metroflex the other day, we both said fuck it to working out at all. Yesterday my wife’s aunt took us around to Coronado, saw the military bases and the boats, my wife’s uncle was a naval aviator, and flew in Viet Nam, I never knew any of that other than he was a fighter pilot, so it was kind of cool to hear my wife’s aunt talk about everything. We went to La Jolla where I only saw one fucking seal, kinda bullshit… we stopped at some place called the World Famous and had some amazing food, I haven’t tracked my macros for shit this week, I don’t really care… tonight we’re going to the Padres game with our daughter and one of my wife’s cousins daughters that’s the same age as ours, they’ve been very close for a while and now that madi lives out here they’ve become even closer… as much as I love being on vacation and seeing my girl and my wife’s family, I’m ready to be home, and back into the gym and back to some form of normalcy in life… I couldn’t imagine chaos like this every day, being out of my routine has wrecked me… finger is a little better, still looks like a hatchet wound! I probably won’t be on again now until we get back home, hope everyone around here is doing well!

Managed to get in 2 days of week 7 now that I’m home. Used Friday to just ease back into the gym, did a little light biceps/triceps and shoulders, everything in my body hurt from not having an NPP shot for 5 days
Saturday was squats and close grip. Squats was relatively easy, 180 x 4 x 3 with no front squats, and close grips at 155 x 10x 2 all paused. Accessory work was t-bar rows, I went fairly light on these as my finger is still a little pissed at me, but much better, stayed with 90 lbs for 6x6, then finished with mid grip lat pull downs superset with face pulls. I didn’t go super heavy on either of these as well, 3x12 on each and were both supposed to be around 60%
Yesterday was Bench, with an off week for DL’s. Kind of made me mad, I was ready to deadlift again, but I’ll have to wait for Tuesday. Bench was a recoup week, worked up to 170x10x2, 185x8x2, and 200x6x2. After that was just biceps and triceps assist work, nothing crazy, alt dumbbell curls 3x12 @ 30 lbs and v-bar press downs 3x13 @ 133 lbs.

This week will be good to ease back into DL’s, I think my working sets are only 285ish for both deficits and floor pulls.
 
It’s almost completely healed, but still numb from the last knuckle to the tip… so when I grip tight with my left hand, it feels like the middle digit isn’t doing shit
 
Training log yesterday, Wk 8 day 1, squats and close grip bench. Started with a little warmup, high knees, hamstring stretches, single leg RDL, back lunges… not sure what’s going on, but my right knee has been really tight the last two weeks, and especially so this week after not training most of last week. Started with Buffalo bar squats, I’m going to alternate 2 weeks and 2 weeks and 2 weeks between bars, buffalo, straight bar and SS yoke. Worked up to 200 for 5 sets of 6, kept the rest fairly short… this really taxed my glute/ham tie ins, especially my left as I feel I’m putting more weight to my left side right now due to my right knee. No front squats this week, which was a nice little break, so straight to close grips. Used a 3” bench block and hit 155 x 8 x2 all paused, nothing heavy, just 90% of my lightest bench sets this week. T Bar rows came next, 5x10 at an RPE of 6, so I went with the old trusty 90 lbs and just held the top for a 2 second squeeze on every rep. Followed up with dumbbell pullovers 80x10x3, superset with side dumbbell raise drop sets, 30 and 25 lbs for 3x10…. Nothing world beating, but it still felt good to be back on schedule.
Tomorrow I deadlift and bench, however deadlifts will be fairly light, 60% on deficits and 65% on full pulls… kind of sad, I don’t go heavy again for 3 weeks.
 
Training today, week 8 day 2, deadlifts and bench. Deadlifts were fairly light, 60 and 65% for multiple sets of 4 and 3… everything felt good, especially for my finger still being numb from the last knuckle to the tip, granted I only pulled 275 and 295, my grip felt strong.
Kicked off the party with some mobility and warmup… single leg RDL’s with high knees and back lunges, and EFS red band pull aparts. Deficit deadlifts first, off a 2” deficit, worked up to 275 for 5 sets of 4, like I said, nothing world beating, but it felt great! Pulls off the floor were 295 x 3x 4, I superset this with my bench work, as my bench work was also fairly light, 65, 70 and 75%. Working sets were 170 x 10x 2; 185x 8x 2; and 200 x6x 2. Shoulder and bicep felt good, neck was a little stoved, but I was still able to comfortably pause and press the last 3 reps in every set. My hamstrings have been very tight lately, tighter than normal, so I have been avoiding a lot of hamstring work, however tonight I decided to hit RDL’s for my 2x10 @ 160, they were easy, but with tight hams they suck! After that we finished with hammer curls and rope press downs.

All in all everything felt good, I’m 3.5 weeks away from peaking week, and will be testing all three lifts the following week. I decided I’m not pulling in the un sanctioned meet, as I want to be able to give my wife as much attention and help on her bench press as I can. I’m hoping she can push somewhere between 170-185, and right now we’re on track to hit somewhere in those numbers, as long as her training stays consistent. She needs a lot of work on press and rack commands though, as she’s only ever watched me compete and has never had to do that herself. Even though I’m not pulling next month, I am still going to hit a push/pull with a goal of 1000+ total this fall/winter, just gotta keep all the moving parts as healthy as I can!
