Absolutely correct concerning the “gut-brain axis” as it’s oft referred to. Only a few researchers have delved into it. I’m endeavoring to be one of them, providing my research proposal gets the green light from the IRB.
You don’t have to name the medication, but can tell me what it was given to treat? I can narrow it down from there. Right now, it sounds like the lining of your gut is severely inflamed. Have you noticed blood in your stool? It will look dark like charcoal and smell absolutely terrible. Like, burn the bathroom to the ground, brick it over, place a biohazard sign on it terrible.
Any unintended weight loss? If so how much over how long?
Nausea and vomiting?
Urinating normally at regular intervals?
Brittle hair, nails, slow wound healing?
Lethargy or malaise?
How long after eating do the symptoms manifest?
If you don’t eat do they still persist?
Did your most recent blood work have high or low white blood cell counts?
Were your IgE, IgA, or IgG levels elevated?
What were your pre-albumin numbers?
Any edema of the hands, or feet? Especially later in the day.
You can get a simple breath test for SIBO to rule that out.
IBS and Crone’s is a little tougher to diagnose (usually an endoscopy is required sometimes blood work has to be done to necessitate the need for a scope).
A CT scan can usually rule out exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. Some of the questions I asked can also necessitate the need for a CT.
Let me know and we can narrow this down.
