First Cycle Log (test only)

6/16

Training

  1. Deadlift - Up to 485lbs x1 (BIG PR 8.5/10 difficulty), 430lbs x1 (held for 10s at top to work my grip) then 2 more sets of 2 at the same weight.
This moved really well. My back, glutes and hamstrings are plenty strong. The main thing that was exposed a little today was my grip. I didn’t lose it and I also held it for 5s at the top but I could feel my hands opening a little (hence why I did an extra hold on one of my down sets).
  2. Pin Bench Press (1/2" above Chest) - 242lbs x3x5 sets
  3. Lat Pulldown - 2x12, 1x10
Was supposed to do weighted chin ups, but my elbows hurt like hell after Deadlifts. I could have sucked it up but at this point it won’t make a difference. The hay is basically in the barn, so I decided to do Lat Pulldowns instead.
Today was a big day. I honestly wish I could post a video to show you guys but obviously we have to be discreet and maintain anonymity on this site. 485lbs is a 45 lbs PR from 2018 and still have some in the tank. Almost 2 years ago when I hit 440lbs I was in the 240s bodyweight (not a good 240 mind you) and right now I’m in the 220s. Super happy right now.

Anyway, the hay is in the barn as far as Squat and Deadlift. I still have my secondary Squat and Deadlift days to go but that’s just about getting the work in. At this point I know what I’m capable of come test day with those. I’m gonna hit the Bench Press work hard a little longer as I had to take time off and rehab, but strengthwise I’m satisfied with where I’m at.

Everything is coming together.

Still doing well with meet prep. Haven’t been posting since my wife and I jumped at the chance to get a puppy that was available for adoption (we have a lot of time on our hands since we both still work from home). Unfortunately, my wife could only stick around for the first few days after we got him because she had already planned to go visit her parents for a week.

Anyhow, still getting all of my work in. I don’t have to do much this week since we’re tapering for the mock meet/test day. I’ll take care of, play with, or train our puppy until he takes a nap then I’ll sneak some training in the garage while he sleeps. Got my squat in this morning (Up to an easy single at 390lbs) and my Deadlift this afternoon (Up to an easy single at 445lbs). Just gotta work up to a single on Bench sometime this evening when our next nap time hits.

My wife comes back Friday, so the plan is to test my lifts on Saturday. On Wednesday, I’ll just hit some warm up weights (work up to 80% or so on Squat/Bench/Dead) to stay loose. Thankfully the puppy already sleeps through the night in his crate which is a huge relief. That was the only thing I was worried about after we got him is that my sleep would be wrecked and my performance would suffer. Doesn’t seem to be the case however and we stay down for a solid 7-8 hours.

Still pinning my test on schedule. While the weights moved well today I’m feeling beat up and achy again, so I’m hoping that tapering and cutting back takes care of that as we go into Saturday. However, as I get amped up for my attempts I know any pain will go away and I just gotta execute!

TEST DAY RECAP

Squat

185kg/408lbs✅
192.5kg/425lbs ✅
200kg/440lbs ❌

Squatted more in training but still a 17lbs lifetime PR (hit 408lbs late 2018 in a test). I really wanted that 200kg/440lbs and it was close. Makes me wish I had taken 435lbs instead.

Bench Press
117.5kg/259lbs✅
122.5kg/270lbs✅
127.5kg/281lbs ✅ 16lbs lifetime PR from late 2019

Deadlift

212.5kg/468lbs ✅
220kg/485lbs✅
227.5kg/502lbs ✅

This is huge! 17lbs lifetime PR from what I hit in training and up 60lbs from late 2018 (last time i tested). Id say I’m built to Deadlift. Still easy too, I have more in the tank.

You know I really wanted that Squat, but overall I’m happy with the results. Up 17lbs on Squat (from late 2018), 16lbs on Bench (from late 2019) and up an absolute shitload on Deadlift (60lbs from late 2018). Keep it mind that some of those increases may seem modest I’m also 15-20lbs lighter than when I lifted those previous PRs, so to lose that much weight and still gain strength is awesome. Also keep in mind I tweaked my Pec halfway through training for this and had to take it easy on Bench for a few weeks and still got good results.

This was a fun little experiment. I know my cycle isn’t very exciting but I’m glad I started with a low dose. I didn’t have many issues overall. Only side effect I experience was acne (got kinda bad on my chest to be honest). So that’s something to note given that my weekly combined dosage was only 350mg/week.

I’ll go back to my TRT for a while so everything looks good for my next check-up with the doc. Obviously I’m gonna keep training but I’ll probably mess around and do what I want for a few weeks while I find a real meet to train for. I would like to keep running cycles in the future and I’ll probably end up doing one of 4 things…
  1. Same weekly test dosage (350mg/week) but run it longer (~15 weeks)
  2. Increased test dosage with proviron
  3. Same weekly test dosage (350mg/week) with a 2nd oral/injectable compound (something mild like Anavar/TBol/Primo etc.)
Anyways fellas, if you’ve following I appreciate the interest and support. I’d say this was a pretty successful trip to the dark side. 😈
