When you wake up in the morning, what’s your first meal consist of? How long after you wake up do you consume this meal?

Post 5 am workout: 8 egg whites scrambled, 3 plain rice cakes or 3/4 cup of cream of rice cereal, 30 grams of whey isolate protein via a shake w/ water. Been my go first meal for years!

Protein: 60
Carbs: 40-60 est.
Calories: 400-500 est.

2 cups egg whites
2 packets instant grits
Mushrooms cut green, red, and yellow peppers
Mix all ingredients in pan make an omelet

Depends on if I do am fasted cardio or not. As of now coach stopped all my cardio so I eat it as soon as I wake up try to take my GH and T3 30 minutes prior to eating.

This sounds good for rice cakes for later in the day

Serving Tips
You can eat rice cakes plain, but it’s better to combine them with foods high in protein and healthy fat. For a pre-workout snack, top your rice cake with turkey and fresh cranberry sauce or tuna with a touch of balsamic vinegar. After your workout, get the carbs, protein and fat your body needs by topping your rice cake with peanut butter and sliced bananas. Or smear some avocado on your cake and top it with thinly sliced chicken breast.

Personally I believe a meal replacement is inferior to a whole food meal. Thats just my opinion based on the idea that I prefer to eat as little processed foods as I can. My belief is that shakes should be used out of convenience or when you are trying to get in extra nutrients not as a replacement.

My first meal rarely varies and consists of protein and fat. I eat 3 whole eggs with 3 eggs whites. Costco has egg whites in pourable containers. 90 minutes later I will eat a carb containing meal if I am not on keto.

I hit the gym around 9:00-9:30am so my schedule is different than most.

I agree with @SemperFi I prefer whole food. Especially your first meal of the day. I personally don’t change mine up espciallh during prep I follow my coaches plan.

@josh be careful all those fats you will gain unwanted fat.

25 grams of protein (usually drink it) blueberries and pineapple … about three hours after I get up becuase I have to drink my coffee do mobility and walk the dogs first

@PHD My wife always makes me scrambled eggs, oatmeal, and usually a slice of toast or bagel. I was curious about the rice cakes because it was mentioned, and I noticed you do grits (which I love) so maybe just switch up the grits and oatmeal every once in a while…

Josh …The rice cakes may not be the best source of complex carbohydrates post workout, but they are easy and pretty clean macros. Another option is cream of rice cereal, I always throw a couple scoops of flavored way protein into the mix.

It’s crazy there are so many ways to go about all this eating, id love for this to be just so basic, but I guess it’s what makes it fun to… love learning this stuff. Thanks guys💪

My meal changes based on how I feel. I used to try and eat the same everyday, but the better you get with calories and macros the more you realise that you can eat a huge variety of foods and still meet the requirements you need to to achieve your goals.

Some days I’m short on time and i’ll whip up my home made shake:
  • 2 serves of hemp seeds
  • 1 banana
  • half an avacado
  • tablespoon of olive oil (for an extra 120calories)
  • 2 serves of honey
  • 1.5 cups of soy milk
Gives me about 800 calories (don’t have the exact number in front of my atm) and 26g of protein.
The meal could be anything. But don’t restrict yourself to the same thing everyday or else you’ll get bored of it and want to stray.
