Forum poll. Signature boxes or no? Input needed

Quick poll. I know sig boxes for users are common. Personally I don’t like them but I know others that do.

While the user cards are better IMO I’ll leave this up to a vote.

• Yes I want to see signature boxes
• No I think they clutter a forum

FYI I can always make it where the user can choose not to view the signatures.

Signature boxes will help Sponsors a lot by being able to add current sales and emails.

It will but the problem is some people go overboard when you let them list things and its not meant to be their personal half page ad.

I can restrict the physical size pretty easy for images but don’t have time to code in different limits for the text.

If people would keep the clutter minimized then I wouldn’t have too much issue with it but also don’t have more things to moderate.

Can you make a rule that maximum wording is a certain amount of words or you get banned?

I realize nobody likes us sponsors to spam the signature. And I’m the spam king.
Haha it does help with sales a lot though.

Only sponsors have a use for post signatures for contact information nothing else. I don’t believe that a member needs a signature in there post for any reason.

Promoting their logs is what I see them used for on other boards.

For now what I did was add more fields in the profile. Then added title text to show like this.

So people will click the user field and see this:

Then you can edit anything in your profile or updated info.

@TG since you said it’s an on/off switch in settings, I’m all for it!

I voted yes. 1. I’d like to see what sponsors have. 2. I think it will benefit the site. 3. Of you don’t like it have it turned off.
I do believe it will give users a better view of what sponsors have and the best deals.
Or if no. That’s fine too. Im indifferent anyways about it.

For now anyone can add it on their profile card. That doesn’t take you away from the current page. Just pop up that shows. Ultimately its up to the Sponsor to do so.

Signatures get repetitive very fast and do cause spam on a board in where a sponsor will post “wow” “amazing” and just bs on a thread to get people to see their info. That doesn’t promote intelligent conversation and was ok years ago but that type of stuff is considered bad practice now.

So quality over quantity in posts is what we really want.

If a sponsor does want to appear on threads everywhere they can always get an advertisement like @IronGoat has that shows on all non sponsor threads. Where those advertisements are limited and rotating.

Just changed your title. Go to your settings and preferences > user profile. Then just fill in the information there. You’ll see all the user fields

Mobile browser is fine. You just have to look for the drop downs to change it.
