Lessons Learned As I Age And Introduce New Meds

I’ve been on aas since 1985ish… came off here and there but mostly on… mostly ignorant… lots of luck.

Prior to trt I crashed hard… below 100 T. I felt horrible, noticeably bad. When I went on trt, it was noticeably better. Not 100% but better. I was a brand new diabetic and trying to dial my diet and new diabetes meds in. I was on and off between feeling great…ok… and bad.

Fast forward to January of this year. I had my T dialed in…my diet was on point tracking everything…I dropped my a1c 4.3 points which is a bunch in the betes world. I was hitting on all cylinders, feeling as perfect as I had in years.

Last week I developed a slight toothache. By this last Monday morning it was a throbbing problem. The dentist got me in right away… I need a root canal on one of my molars. It’s infected bad.

I’ve got to take prescription antibiotics (3aday) for a bit prior to any procedure. Doc also has me taking an 800 motrin along with an extra strength tylenol 3 times a day for pain.

I had you read all that bs to say I can feel the extra medicine in my body. I feel terrible-ish. The toothache isn’t helping and the is diminished for bits at a time. I haven’t taken any pain meds in months… before that it was months. The antibiotic is a foreign substance also. I hate this feeling and can’t wait till this tooth gets fixed.

Me too… the strongest i take is extra strength tylenol or motrin 800s and they’re making me feel like crap. I only take them a couple times a year in small doses.

I imagine its the infection and the antibiotic giving you the bad feeling and a compacted tooth I believe that they call that is painful smh
I bet you can’t wait to get into the dentist brother

I feel that hahah I have one that’s super loose but never hurts and it’s crooked af and want it fixed really bad. Just waiting on dental insurance

I lived on Tylenol and Advil for 5 years while dealing with my hip… 2 weeks mega dosing one, switch to the other for 2 weeks, then nothing for a week… back to the beginning. I never felt good doing that, and god only knows what I did to my gizzards while doing all that

Good luck @Poppy . Depending on the antibiotic they can make me feel awful also. Piss smells awful, the whole 9yards. Lots of fluids and make sure you are taking a probiotic. Antibiotics kill night the good and bad bacteria so that probiotic will help you feel a bit better. Take it 2 hours before or after the antibiotic. They shouldn’t be taken at the same time

Boss an infection in a tooth is a lot more serious than people think it can get into the jaw bone or into your sinuses it can also get into your blood and cause sepsis alot of dentists won’t do the root canal until they get antibiotics into your system in cause it gets loose when they do surgery now if you feel really bad and think it’s from the meds maybe check kidney and liver function to make sure it’s not Tylenol I know exactly what feeling your talking bout that just feel like shit When you take the meds I have a really strong anti inflammatory for the hernia and degeneration in my discs if I take it more than two days on a row I feel nasty

My friend just had this exact issue with the infected tooth and root canal. He went in same day for emergency surgery. His insurance didn’t cover it because it was that day emergency because the pain was unbearable so he paid out of pocket. He is on antibiotics and cortisosteroids I believe. The surgery was well worth it. The pain went down immediately.
I hope you can get the same result. Hang in there. Our bodies aren’t like regular people. Any new drug messes with our body’s homeostasis. Good luck with everything. Stay strong!

Yeah this darn think is hurting half my darn face. The dentist said it was danger close to sinuses. I got to do 10 days of meds. Wifey is scheduling tomorrow. Hopefully after the 4th I can get it handled.

Yessir the antibiotics knocked out the infection and most pain. I haven’t taken any tylenol or 800s in a while. I feel good. Waiting on root canal now.

Sorry about your granny.
