Are you tracking your food intake?

Literally everything you stuff in your cake hole… fats… carbs… protein…etc

I do not track my fruits and veggies… I eat plenty of veggies and some fruits. I look at veggies as freebies… get stuffed on fresh green beans.

I found what helps me for sit down meals is I eat proteins first… veggies second and carbs last… for instance the mashed potatoes will be last in line. Wifey makes perfect mashed potatoes from scratch… I don’t even load them on my supper plate until I’m all done with everything else. It’s a crying shame…2 tablespoons of some heavenly deliciousness.

Keep in mind that everyone is different and you just need to break the code for yourself.

What is your current macro count? If you don’t know an exact number of how you’ve been eating to put weight back on you can’t expect to know what to cut them back to.
 
I’m late to the party and reading through all of this. So much to ingest from this for me and so much I want to say, but I’m afraid will come off rather harsh if I post anything up yet.

Keep up with Dirt, Neuro, and Poppy. They will steer you in the right directions with some leeway along the journey and I will keep following. Good to see you back here and jumping back in the fitness train, because 50 is not old and don’t let Poppy tell you that you’re old, cause you’re not and neither is his old gray haired ass.

Lmao, AssClown! I refuse to say I’m approaching mid life. You’re what I would call the poster child with what to do right at someone who just over mid life and had the Betes to cope with along the way, as well.
Mill chime in after reading and absorbing more, but I think the three of you are leading on the right path. Dirt is the most knowledgeable when it comes to being a big dude and knowing how to run those macros to gain or lose, cause he’s rocking that shit right now and look great.
 
Haha all good buddy. @BBSQ5 bring up a very good point. @Dirtnasty is much more knowledgeable about being a big guy and cutting weight down. While I can cut 1/4 of my carbs out and start dropping fat.

I would say get a macro tracker and get real with yourself. There’s no shame or any BS here. You’re here to make a change. That starts with being brutally honest with yourself and tracking what goes in. That would probably give all of us a better place to start. Use the app that poppy has. Or something similar.
 
I’m going to the grocery store tomorrow to grab food for prep.
Here’s what I got so far….
300 grams of protein
Don’t know about fats or carbs
All the green veggies I can eat
