Wednesdays log, the first day of the new year, and it was an uneventful one. I think I’ve worked every new years since I started working when I was younger so never been much of the going out type. Ended up being another rest day, sometimes I let my sleep dictate if I get a lift in or not. Being on nights sometimes you just gotta prioritize sleep when you can get it. I’m off the next 3 days so will be making up for the extra rest days and hitting it hard!

Finally Friday! Bit of a weird schedule today as I wasn’t able to fully sleep with other priorities today. Just been napping when I get the chance.
Hit a pretty solid chest day after work and felt great. Weights are moving pretty smooth and everything is feeling great.

Saturdays log. Quad focused leg day. Gym went from being dead at the usual time I go to being packed. For the first time in years I wasn’t able to get a Smith Machine for the whole workout… which is crazy. But love seeing everyone coming in and putting in work. Had to alter the plans today because of that so I hoarded the leg press for quite some time. Sleep has been poor this weekend, you’re probably starting to see a trend here, it comes and goes.

-leg press close stance, 4 second negatives, pause at bottom, explode up, 8 reps. Started at two plates a side and worked up to 7 plates a side which is where I could no longer do the scheme for 8 reps, failed at 6 reps at the bottom

Mondays log

What a great start to a new week than a free day in the gym where we just hit whatever we feel like. Pulled a hybrid full body day today and going to rest the next two days. Even hitting muscle groups that I’ve demolished the last few days still felt strong and productive. Could be the increase in food or the gear beginning to work its magic.

Tuesdays log

Another rest day in the books. Spent the day trying to sleep, managed 5hrs and 18 minutes out of the 7 I laid in bed. Still trying to find a combination of things that work to help me stay asleep. I can’t sleep very well, but I’m an excellent napper, maybe that’s my problem 🤣. Tomorrow will either be another rest day or might get another leg day in, will decide after tonight’s shift.

Merry Liftmas Eve everyone! Short and to the point today. Hit an awesome leg day after work, probably one of the best feeling workouts I’ve had in a while. Very productive and the pump was out of this world. Managed to squeeze in a nap right before all my evening family activities.

Well due to the holidays and being in bulk mode, I don’t track anything but protein. I allow myself to enjoy the food and company without the pressure of worrying about what my weight is doing. I’ll easily get right back on track the following day.

Wednesday log

Ain’t no rest for the wicked, hit another brutal leg day today. Got some decent sleep before hitting the gym this afternoon so the lift went flawless. Pushed hard and broke the limits today. Learned a new trick about using bands as a “seatbelt” on the leg extension machine to keep me locked in and that allowed me to push the weight higher than I ever have. Maxed out the stack and added 25lbs to the gym pin(in reality it’s a giant pink screwdriver because I’m cheap, but it fits with the planet fitness purple aesthetic 🤣). Quads are spent and already feeling it.

Really locked in this week it seems, lifts are all going beautifully and progress is on the up. Met up with a buddy this morning to run through a chest/arm day. I mainly prefer to lift alone so I can go at my own pace with my own routine, but sometimes it just hits differently when you’re pushing each other. Lifts were solid, pump was solid, energy was high, and the vibe in the gym was just perfect.

Fridays log

Back day on the menu, and the back was on fire, literally. Sometimes the lower back pumps from Var can be a bit too much and it snuck up on me today after smith machine rows. Doesn’t happen all the time but today really affected the rest of the lift. Pushed on and knocked it out though! Sleep was horrendous today, maybe managed an hour before my shift, just couldn’t get the body to wind down. Tomorrow will be a forced rest day to try and catch up on sleep, gotta try and be up for the Rams game tomorrow.

Saturdays log

Late on posting but work has finally calmed down. Nothing missed today, just a simple rest day trying to recoup some sleep. Fairly successful in that endeavor, 5.5 hours. I’ll take what I can get. My problem isn’t falling asleep, it’s staying asleep. Would gladly take any recommendations anyone has.

Melatonin 1-3mg(makes me very groggy)
Benadryl(will knock me out but same really bad grogginess)

Sleep can be tricky on gear. Histamine build up can be a huge problem. Have you taken any DAO supplements before?
Pair it with being a shift worker and it’s not the best recipe haha. I have not used a DAO supplement before but I’m open to trying anything

I’m a shift worker too. I feel the pain brotha. Might be time to try hydroxizine, seroquel, or trazodone.

On today’s menu was a quick little Sharms day to get a little work in while still trying to focus on improving sleep. Even on little sleep the lifts are solid and the pump is great, but can only imagine how much better it would be if sleep was vastly improved. The work never stops and I’ll crack the code eventually.

As of the time I’m writing this, my legs are already sore and it feels so good. Tuesday will be a good chest and ab day, maybe a little cardio as I need to implement a few days with some with more intense cardio.

Tuesdays log

7 hours of sleep! No supplements used, just didn’t stay on a night shift schedule on my day off 🤣 still no problem sleeping at night, just during the day. Well rested and well fed had this upper day moving so smooth. Moved through each exercise feeling pumped and accomplished.

EQ is beginning to do its thing and the hunger is coming. I see an increase in cardio in my future to make up for the extra calories that sneak in

Wednesday’s log

Let’s talk about off days. I don’t mean off as in taking a rest day but when you have a day where things are just feeling rough. That was today for me. How do you handle those days, give up and try again tomorrow or do you do your best to push through?

Have some things going on in my personal life that affected my day and threw off the vibe. Hindsight I should have just used a rest day but decided to try and power through it. Went in for a back day but wasn’t feeling it from the start. Headphones died 20 minutes into the lift and that’s just a no go for me, completely kills the motivation when I can hear everything going on around me. But, didn’t quit and didn’t give up. Lifts suffered a bit so kept everything to a lighter weight and focused on form and control this session, nothing wrong with that every now and then. Revisit the bases and make sure the mind muscle connection is strong. Was a quick lift but the work was done. Sleep was horrendous today. Will be taking the day off tomorrow and possibly the whole weekend to try and figure out a better game plan.
