"bodybuilding" has made me develop a hatred for food

Japanese blades all day, #2 blue steel, I got about $4k invested in my cutlery. It’s a true art form making blades.

I love the fine German Steel JA Henckel. The best blades of the German people. Not the international crap. The German made steel ones.

I have not. My first nice set was Chicago cutlery. Was good for the price. But moved up to Henckel. Love the feel of those knives. My carry blade I have a Kershaw 7100BW

Loving this thread. My GF was just mentioning an air fryer the other day so @n3rd thx for the recommend.

I used to use my slow cooker with beef or chicken but damn… it got to the point where I couldn’t even smell the food. I would put every seasoning/sauce I could but after a while it all tasted the same.

My GF bought some pre-marinated chicken breast the other day. Gotta say… it was really tasty!

Miyabi are the phenomenal blades especially with the Birchwood handle, bet you that’s a sexy blade. If I’m not mistaken I think they use a #1 white steel which is very dense and will hold your edge for quit some time. Henckel and wusthoff both use a blend of Damascus steel which also is very dense. My wusthoff santoku blade is my work horse at work. I can go almost 2 weeks before I gotta take it to the wet stone.

How would you compare Kershaw to Benchmade? I’m looking to get a new carry blade but don’t know which company to go with. When I was still in the army we had a contract with Benchmade and we had them issued to us. Awesome blades

Ohhhhhh man… you guys are talking one of my passions. I’m not into cutlery but edged weaponry has been a passion of mine for decades. I currently carry a Spyderco Para Military 2 and a Spyderco Cricket. I am a huge fan of the Karambit and I carry a Fox 599 or a Havok Works stonewashed folding Karambit. I have had quite a few Microtechs but currently only carry a regular ole UTX-85 with satin blade. If I had to pick only one carry blade though, it would be my Spyderco Para

No spring assisted but the motion to open is really fluid. I’ve owned many many spring assisted and I can open my Spyderco just as fast

@Raphael3636 I saw you mentioned Benchmade earlier. I have only owned 1 Benchmade knife ever and it’s the Nimravus (sp) I’ve had it literally 14 years now and have never sharpened it lol. Granted it’s a fixed blade and basically only designed for combative uses but it’s a great knife

So I carry a knife everywhere I go. I actually have a Smith & Wesson MP and love it.
I am always interested in which knives are best but for me the best knife is one that can take a beating and be the work horse but not cost hundreds of dollars. My SW MP was 20$ and ive had it for about a year and it is as sharp as the day I got it basically and is a great knife.

Also the kbar is definitely a favorite for fixed blade.

I like Kershaw because I have big meat hooks. And fits nicely. The auto blade is so powerful that when you release the blade of you don’t have a good grip it will pop out of your hand. Field knife I carry a KaBar. Great utility knife. I’ve never broken a blade and I’ve used it for everything possible. Also like Gerber Ghost-strike. Have a crckit as well. Plus some others I bought. Had one made for me by a brother who’s a blacksmith. That thing is a rock star. I’ve cut cables with that thing. It’s a beast.

Got a spyderco too. Well I had one. I had a red eye flight, clipped it on my trousers. Went to security. Emptied my pockets. There’s my knife… I handed to TSA. He looked at me. I said just keep it. Give it a good home. Had that thing for years. I still get sad about that one…

Yea that’s what I remember about my Benchmade, that thing was indestructible, it went through 3 tours with me and was just as good as day 1. Unfortunately I lost it when we moved to a new house
