The Benefits Of A Personal Training Log

This was sparked by a short exchange earlier about getting to “500 posts” and being eligible for gear from one of our sponsors.

A personal training log has many benefits.

In my opinion the biggest is others can learn from it. There very well could be “that one thing” that someone hasn’t thought of that you have included in your training log.

Secondly… a log adds a certain amount of accountability to the goals you’ve set forth for yourself.

A log can also add visibility to what you’re doing. Someone might pick up on something and be able to render advice or a caution.

Lastly it is a good way to chalk up posts. I promise that you will get replies and have back and forth posts.

I will also add…for me…y’all are my training partners. I’ve been through a half dozen or so over the years. Only one has stuck it out and still training. He set up a home gym similar to mine and we still talk.

You guys are literally the only ones I talk aas and training with on a regular basis.

I just struggled with my log on keeping interest myself personally. I eat the same things, train the same way, etc

I’m thinking about doing some like update posts or something periodically

I like eating the same things through the week. Just makes it easy to track and prep. Plus I feel like it helps with my digestion.

Tough for me to mix up training. My push pull legs routine treats me so good haha. Maybe one day. I’ll mix up exercises if it’s too busy

I like doimg logs when im competing, it is nice to look back at. It also makes me feel more accountable, because of you guys i got to get tp the gym and afterwards to you what happened.

I would say I’m in the middle, I get as much volume as I can where I can still recover by the next time I hit that muscle group. I hit each 2x per week.

Pull day today
Lat pull downs, 2 warm up sets, 3 working sets. 8-15 reps pyramiding up
Rear delt flys, 4 sets 12-15
Single arm machine rows 4 sets 8-12
Barbell shrugs 3 sets 8-12
Hammer curls 4 sets 8-12

So 18 true working sets all together. Good intensity and good pump with those two ranges too

I am pretty well the same sort of
Volume, with warms up and pyramiding.

I just do 5 reps for top sets of my
Main lift. Accessories I work the 8-12 range
