Evidence is accumulating that eating in a 6-hour period and fasting for 18 hours can trigger a metabolic switch from glucose-based to ketone-based energy, with increased stress resistance, increased longevity, and a decreased incidence of diseases, including cancer and obesity.

I went to the doctor to get blood work done last Monday because I feel sick and tired all the time and I need to find out what’s going on. For the blood work I fasted for 18 hours and something I didn’t expect happened. My energy was way up and I didn’t feel my usual toxic, poisoned feeling I have most all of the time. This prompted me to give intermittent fasting a try. I’m 3 days in and so far I like it a lot. My only reservation about intermittent fasting is the fear I won’t absorb enough protein in a 6 hour window to grow. I’m getting 4 meals/shakes which is 200 grams of quality protein from around a dozen egg whites, 1/2 pound extra lean ground Turkey, and whey isolate/concentrate. I supppse that’s enough being that I only weigh 210Lbs. Today was my first fasted training session. I’m just getting back into legs so I did 4 sets of squat press machine for 16 reps each, 4 sets of calf press, and 20 minutes on the recombinant bike at level 12 and level 13. No joke, my legs are hurting all over. That goes to show how out of shape my legs are. The workout felt great and I had plenty of energy. I took my usual tianeptine and flmodanifil preworkout for energy. I am basically dependent on those two nootropics for energy.
  • Post workout at noon I had a banana, a fish oil capsule, 2 scoops of whey protein, and 2/3 cup of oats with water in my car.
  • At 2pm I had a dozen nuked egg whites with nuked broccoli and peas, and 2 cups of steamed basmati rice with salsa.
  • at 4pm I’ll have another banana, fish oil capsule, 2 scoops whey protein, and 2/3 cup of oats with water.
  • at 6pm, for my last meal, I’ll have a nuked potatoe(it’s a big one maybe a pound), 1/2 pound of extra lean ground Turkey breast, and some sugar free barbecue sauce and salsa, maybe more peas.
My dad thinks I have diabetes like him since I feel like crap when I eat and he says my toes are discolored like his were before starting metformin. I guess we’ll see.
I think my kidneys are bad and can’t filter out the toxins from my blood.
Who knows.

Do any of you guys do intermittent fasting?
If so, post up your routines and the results you’ve gotten. 😂

When i was trying to lose weight i would usually skip breakfast, and fast( not eat) on sundays. Have you checked your kidney value like creatinine?

So im intermittent fasting right now myself but im trying to cut that makes the window much easier to fill with the amount of food actually needed for me.
I give myself 4pm to 8pm to eat then im hitting fasted cardio in the morning on my stationary bike.
I believe that it works great cutting and im also off all hormones so it is definitely helping me get back to were I want to be before I start running again and honestly its not a certain weight I want to look a certain way before I start running again.

The only problem is the right before bed hunger it sucks but the rest of the day im doing well with waiting until 4 to get my grub on.

People I know who fast do tell they feel more energetic. When I switch into the cutting phase of my diet I am going to try it. I just need to figure out how to eat when I’m at work.

You can make your eating window at any time of your day I just wouldn’t have it right before bed.
Unless your work schedule is all over the place

I just finished my last meal. Its honestly easy for me brother not being on hormones and only doing maintenance workouts. I just don’t need anywhere near the amount of food that I was consuming before I really eat about 3x during that time frame. Then im good im in a deficit losing weight so for me its much easier than if I was trying to do it while on cycle. I don’t believe that I could ever intermittent fast while running gear I would eat my own hand lol

A great source of info on this topic is Dr Peter Attia. Look him up, he’s got a podcast also. He goes into great detail on fasting up to 3-4days.
I liked intermittent fasting . I felt good while doing it m, strength and endurance were also good. I only stopped because it’s tough to put weight on while fasting. A great Benefit is the break it gives your digestive system. I know people love to get protein in often like @Dirtnasty nut every time you ingest food it causes stress on the body not different than exercise so fasting gives you a chance to relax and reset. Curious to see what your labs look like. Have you ever looked into food allergies? They can cause a lot of the problems you are having

I’ve never looked into food allergies, My diet is the same bland thing all the time except for my cheat meal.

All the more reason to check for allergies. The more you eat something the more chance you’ll develop an allergy. Easy enough to look into
