When I was in Ukraine I was eating Ukrianian Borscht every day. Never had to worry about my cholesterol when I did that. They say beets help lower it. Matter of fact I think I’ll ask my wife to make some this week. I miss eating that.

Could be his total. My LDL runs around 140 without any meds or diet changes and gear. Total can get squirrelly sometimes and HDL/Tri’s, too.

Have you thought about a CT Calcium Score down. You could be good and have no plaque buildup at all.

Or, fast real well for like 24 hours of just water and then go get done again and see if it was a fluke. Medical providers don’t usually jump to a statin these days as protocol after one damn bad cholesterol bloodwork test.

Not entirely accurate. It’s cholesterol over time that will cause small vessel damage. Cholesterol elevation can cause plaque build up over time as well. That’s why calcium score is also important info.

Either way, things need adjusting.

Really good if made right.

2 days to prepare it really. Need to make the broth on one day. With chicken, vegetables and beef soup bone and cheap meat. cool it down in fridge and separate the fat out. My wife usually makes enough for several portions and freezes the rest for later.

Then the beets, cabbage, beans, spices etc. slow cooked and till everything really soft then can store a pot that will give you a few days worth. then you add sour cream in before eating. mix it around.

Great to fill you up when without bloating or anything.

We have a busy day today but will buy the main items. We still have broth frozen and can do the recipe in thread if anyone wants. Low calorie so great addition. If cutting harder drop the sour cream from it.

@Ripgut you have a host of guys here trying to talk to you about what’s going on, and since your labs have come back you’ve hardly engaged. I’ll ask a third time, and then I’ll be done- what’s the plan? what are you doing with your dosage until you get squared away?

Response from doctor on Ezetimibe
I can try to get it covered, usually it’s a step therapy and you have to try a statin first however I can try for you.

This is my opinion based on stuff I’ve read over the years and conversations with doc.

Unless you’re a bonified senior citizen with heart disease… or all other avenues have been exhausted… there’s a whole lot of risk vs reward on these things. If you google statins there is a bunch of info on the good stuff and a shopping list of negatives. I believe some statins have been banned in other countries because of needless overuse.

Me for example. My cholesterol/ldl goes up and down with the use of oral peds. Always has. I don’t need them 12 months a year. Take them for a couple/few months pwo only and quit for 3-6 months. I will not take another drug with high risks to counteract my ped use if all I have to do is throttle back on the peds.

Statins have a list of things you can’t eat/take with them and another list of things you might have to take to counteract its sides.

Just my opinion…worth just what I charged ya… nothing.
