This is my first log on here but I’ve been watching a few others for a while so I wanted to give it a try. I’m currently in the strongman off-season and focused on training for nationals/ Arnold qualifier in 2022.

I’m currently have Unicorn test cyp 250 and I’m running 500mg a week split Monday/Thursday. I want to give a non biased review of the results i get. I’m on week 3 and plan on getting bloods the beginning of week 6

Currently height/weight is 6’5 331lbs
Calories are around 4900 for maintenance

I will try and post every other day for workouts and diet. Since I’m a strongman, I have a little more freedom when it comes to food LOL. Looking forward to hearing from everyone!

I’m currently on a mini vacation in Chicago and already set a PR. i ate an entire large Chicago style deep dish pizza by myself in one setting! I’m pretty sure that covers a majority of my macros right?

Hotel gym workout:

25 mins warmup cardio
10 mins mobility work

Standing DB strict press 3x10 90lbs
DB goblet squat. 2x 1 min 90lbs
Lat pull downs 3x10
Delt raises. 3x10.
Delt fly. 3x10

Just trying to get some blood flow after 5 hr car ride

Seriously… are you looking to maintain bw or go up/down. Out of ignorance… just eat and train hard and as long as strength doesn’t drop… just continue eating the same?

The goal is just to become WSM someday and I’m trying to figure out the best body weight to compete at. A lot of events are becoming more athletic and it’s a benefit to be fast and agile so sticking around 330 has been best for me. I’ve competed at 355 and I just felt sluggish and slow. I found that I have a weird metabolism so 4900 keeps me right around 330. I will probably shoot back up when comp season comes back around.

Yeah I think the events require a lot more athleticism than a lot of folks realize. Phil pfister gave a good interview after his win. He said it was the world’s strongest athlete.

Yeah especially in the last few years. There are a few guys I competed with that pulled 900+ lbs on a deadlift but couldn’t complete the carry medley in under a minute. Most comps now have 1 static strength event and 4 athletic events. I’m working on building static strength currently since I come from a football background, I do really well in the athletic side of the comp.

That’s one reason I don’t ever think I could do bodybuilding. I see how precise everything they eat is and how measured out and I’m over here eating a whole pizza and wondering what’s for dinner later lol. I just got my half beef back and I measure my steak by the package, not ounce 😂

Right now it is higher than usual because the butcher shops are understaffed and people are having a hard time getting cows in. I just paid 4.25 a lb hanging weight. A good price is around 3.50 a lb hanging weight. Sounds like you are getting a quarter because a half should be around 400lbs total. A quarter is usually 150 to 200 lbs

But it also depends on the type of meat too. It’s weird how they do it. For example

Black angus and standard steer is 150-200lbs for a quarter

Bison and beefalo (bison and beef mixed) is only 75 lbs a quarter. And you get 8 quarters from a single animal. Makes since right.

It’s funny because it’s one of the most important parts of our training. That and recovery. I spend at least 30 mins a day doing mobility and recovery. I have a cold tub right in my gym that I do after every workout. I go to a physiotherapist every 2 weeks for general maintenance. I would probably implode if I didn’t do all the recovery work.
