That’s what I keep telling my friends. I haven’t benched over 225 since I fucked up my elbow. So, 6-7 months. Been rebuilding my chest just fine with that weight, dumbbells, and high but slow and controlled reps.
One of my mentors splained that to me decades ago when I was killing myself in the gym. He asked me if i fubar myself can I still work and make money… the answer was no!!!
Hahah I’m just thankful I only had some minor physical setbacks. Not enough to lose all progress or need surgery. It definitely made me recalibrate though.
I have my goals, but all I really focus on is making a little progress each day.
I believe the whole gym strength thing gets way overinflated. Sure there’s going to be some dudes that are just flat out strong. But imo a general rule is if you can bench 225 squat 315 then that puts a person waayy out front of the general pedestrian and in the top of the run of the mill gym rat.
Benching 405 and squatting 600 has no real carry over to anything anyone really needs to do outside of competing for something.
Being a local gym hero is like high school heroes… it means pretty much zilch.
Dude who set pl dead record I feel sand bagged his other lifts to say he got record in full meet. I mean if you squat 600 then pull 1025 you may have had more on the squat earlier.
I just sucked at deadlift and strained my right lat a couple of times… and I’m a lazy azz. By the time deads came around I was over it all and just wanted to go home.
